Siberian Rhodiola rosea
"Is Not An MAO Inhibitor"
Siberian Rhodiola rosea is not an MAO inhibitor,
such as St. Johns Wort or any of the pharmaceutical MAO inhibiting
drugs currently on the market. MAO inhibitors differ from Siberian
Rhodiola rosea in that they actually stop the manufacture
of serotonin, of which only 2% to 3% is found in the rahe nucleus
of the brain. Just a little difference in that small area can make
a big difference in how we act, think and react.
Siberian Rhodiola rosea, being an Adaptogen, does
not inhibit, but balances monoamine oxidase and aldehyde dehydrogenase,
which are the two enzymes responsible for limiting the production
of serotonin in the brain. That may seem like a small point, but
actually is a major one. If inhibited, serotonin can drop below
normal for any given individual leading them to a substantial deviation
in personality and ultimately lead them to physician care.
Another reason I bring this to your attention is that clinical
research and antidotal experience suggests that mixing some natural
MAO inhibitors, such as St. Johns Wort with pharmaceuticals MAO
inhibiting drugs, can become dangerous. Our experience with Rosavin
over the past 6 years along with the more than 1000 Psychiatrists
and patients taking it, (many of which are on other pharmaceutical
MAO inhibitors), has not produced any evidence of contraindication.
This response was written because of confusion concerning true
MAO inhibitors and Rosavin, which is a proprietarily
processed Siberian Rhodiola rosea. If you need

Rhodiola rosea and its benefits pick up the book Arctic
