Too many of you think that eating healthy means radical changes in your diet. Improving your diet could be as easy as switching from white bread to a whole grain bread. Changing your diet doesn't necessarily mean giving up on all of your favorite foods.

Healthier cooking methods include broiling, baking, pressure-cooking, slow-cooking and poaching. These methods do not promote the use of harmful compounds and make your food healthier.

Stop Getting Fast Food

If you enjoy eating out, that’s fine, just know which foods you need to be avoiding.

You may wish to consider upgrading your choices of restaurants. For example, skipping any fast food joint is a good idea. However, if you must swing by Burger King or the likes, carefully study the menu and opt for the healthiest choices.

A better idea is to discover restaurants in your area that serve healthier food.

Try Something New

Deciding on what to have for dinner is always cause for frustration. This is the reason why many families cook the same meals week in and week out. Chances are that you have had spaghetti at least three times a month for several years.

Even if you are eating healthy meals, it makes perfect sense to mix things up a bit. We suggest that you find one new healthy recipe a week that you can whip up and try out. If you don't care much for it, no harm, no foul. But if you enjoy it, you can scratch at least one night of spaghetti off of your list.

Eat Your Greens

A good way to ensure you are getting enough greens is to eat them first at your meal. By doing so, it is more likely that you will finish them and get the full benefits of their nutrition.

Eat Your Fruits

Fruits are healthy, they are loaded with vitamins, fiber and water. This, however, does not apply to fruit juices. While you might pat yourself on the back after downing a glass of apple juice, it is not even close to as healthy as eating an apple.

Eat at Home

While it is fun and easy to just go out to eat, preparing your own food at home is usually a healthier option. In addition, cooking at home is easier on your budget as well.

Mix It Up

Variety is the spice of life. Choose and eat foods that are different colors, different in texture and are eaten in a variety of ways. Go for the deep blue blueberries with green spinach and yellow and red bell peppers.
